We do rent skates to women interested in trying before they commit to Roller Derby - for the simple reason that Derby isn't for everyone. Email us to find out whether we have your size.

What is the best way for me to know what skate size I am?

That is such a great question. All skates are based on US Men's sizing. Take your shoe size and come down a size, I am size 8 so I am a size 7. Really simple eh? Nope. There are a couple of other things that you can do to ensure that you get the right fit. If you skate with an established league then you have a walking skate shop at your disposal, so simply ask one of the girls if you can try on their skates.

Measuring the length of your foot
Grab yourself a chair and ruler. Take a load off and sit down on the chair. You are going to measure the length of your feet seated and standing. While seated measure from your heel to the longest toe, now stand up and see whether there is any change to that measurement. You are going to record the longest measurement. It is important to measure both feet and do not be surprised if your feet are different lengths, it is more common than you think.

Measuring the width of your foot
You are going to measure the width of your feet seated and standing. This time grab a tailors tape measure, you are going to measure the widest part of your foot. In most cases the ball of your foot. Now stand up, placing your weight on your foot may change the measurement. Once again you are going to record the longest measurement. It is important to measure both feet.

I am 25.5cm in length and width is 25cm. I fit a size 7 Rebel and ideally a 7.5 in Riedell.
